Themovie is based without interrupti~ the infamous Stanford Prison Experiment conductedin 1971. A temporary expedient prison is set up in a inquiry lab, complete withcells, bars and surveyorship cameras. For two weeks 20 staminate participantsare hired to play prisoners and guards. The prisoners are locked upand bring forth to follow seemingly mild rules, and the guards are toldsimply to hold order without using physical violence. Everybody isfree to discharge at any time, thereby forfeiting fee. In the beginningthe mood between both groups is insecure and rather positive. But soonquarrels arise and the wardens employ for~ more drastic sanctions toconfirm their weight of evidence.
